Pests and diseases affecting Hamilton’s forests
• 11 Skyline Drive, Hamilton Ontario L9H 3S2, Canada
About
Join invasive species staff from the Hamilton Conservation Authority on a walk through the Dundas Valley to discuss new and emerging invasive species threats. We’ll be looking out for some forest pest and pathogens that have arrived in Hamilton over the past few years, including Hemlock Woolly Adelgid and Beech Leaf Disease, as well as going over other common species of invasive plants and insects you can find locally. This walk will focus on how to identify different species, how to report your findings while out in nature, and what else you can do to support the environment.
This outing will take place in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area, with some incline on relatively flat dirt trails. Walking will be done at a slow to moderate pace.
Meet at the Sanctuary Park parking lot. ( link here ) Parking is free and street parking is also available.
