• 177 Sherman Ave. North
About
Join us for a post-screening Q & A with 2 University of Waterloo Grad Student Field Researchers, who appear in the film - Lauren Weeks and Victoria Pepe
Through cinematic storytelling and emotional narration, viewers embark on an intimate, shoulder-to-shoulder journey with Birds Canada wildlife biologists and University of Waterloo researchers. This short film reveals what it means to fight for the Eastern Whip-poor-will - a species most people never see but will miss if it’s gone. It’s not just a documentary; it’s a testament to the people, their passion, and the long, often sleepless hours spent in the field gathering vital data. Offering a front-row seat to the grit and heart behind conservation science, the film deepens appreciation for the relentless work required to ensure these species continue calling through the night for generations to come.
This is more than a documentary. It’s a call to action.
“To hear the haunting call of the Eastern Whip-poor-will is to glimpse a world still wild and worth saving,” says filmmaker Gregg McLachlan. “This film is my invitation — for all of us — to protect the skies and the habitats that cradle the Eastern Whip-poor-will before their voices are lost to silence.”
