In a conservative, tight-knit coastal medieval village, an ostracized and hardworking Fisherwoman (Academy Award-winner Olivia Colman) lives a lonely life. Unwilling to settle for the uninspired local men or conform to oppressive patriarchal traditions, she visits the reclusive local basketmaker (Peter Dinklage) and commissions him to weave her a husband out of wicker. To the shock of the community, the resulting creation – the Wicker Husband (Alexander Skarsgård) – is deeply soulful, attentive, and possesses an unexpected romantic and physical prowess.
