Ticketing tools

Everything around a general-admission ticket

Build the ticket offer

  • Create paid or free ticket types for each event date.
  • Set the name, description, price, capacity, and minimum or maximum tickets per order.
  • Pause sales when needed, with sold-out status reflected automatically when inventory is gone.

Run promo codes and coupons

  • Offer a percentage or fixed-dollar discount.
  • Choose when a code starts and ends, and set a maximum number of uses.
  • Make a code available across the event or limit it to selected ticket types.

Give buyers a simple checkout

  • Sell from the public event page with guest checkout; free orders use the same ticket flow without Stripe.
  • Quantity choices stop at the remaining inventory, with availability checked again before the order proceeds.
  • Confirmation email includes every ticket and QR code, plus event date, venue, address, map, and arrival details when available.

Manage event entry

  • Invite door staff without giving them access to the full Partner Portal.
  • Scan QR codes with a phone camera or use attendee lookup and manual check-in.
  • See valid, already used, refunded, cancelled, or wrong-event results immediately, with an event-day audit history.

Handle orders and refunds

  • Search orders, purchasers, attendees, and ticket references.
  • Refund a full order or an individual ticket; refunded tickets become invalid for entry.
  • Keep orders, refund history, and attendance records available after the event.

Follow sales and attendance

  • Track checkout starts, paid orders, tickets sold, gross sales, refunds, and check-in rate.
  • Review HamiltonEvents.ca fees and Stripe processing fees once Stripe has reconciled them.
  • See organiser proceeds only when the underlying Stripe costs are known.

How much does HamiltonEvents.ca event ticketing cost?

The HamiltonEvents.ca fee is 2.5% + $0.49 CAD per paid ticket on Access, 2% + $0.49 CAD on Insights, and 1% + $0.49 CAD on Performance. The fee is calculated after discounts. Stripe processing fees are separate and remain the organiser's responsibility.

Is there a fee for free tickets?

No. Tickets with a final price of $0 have no HamiltonEvents.ca ticketing fee and use the same ordering, ticket delivery and check-in flow without Stripe payment.

Can I offer different ticket types and promo codes?

Yes. You can create paid and free ticket types with their own price, capacity and order limits. Promo codes can use a percentage or fixed-dollar discount, have start and end dates, include a usage limit, and apply to the whole event or selected ticket types.

Does ticketing support assigned seating?

Not at this stage. The current offering is for general-admission events, with separate ticket types and inventory for each event date. Assigned seating and multi-event passes are not currently included.

How do buyers receive and use their tickets?

Each confirmation email includes the buyer's tickets and QR codes, along with the event date, venue, address, map and arrival details when available. Tickets can also be opened from the buyer's secure order page.

How does event check-in work?

Organisers can invite door staff to an event-scoped scanner without giving them full Partner Portal access. Staff can scan QR codes with a phone camera or use attendee lookup and manual check-in.

How do I start selling tickets for my Hamilton event?

Ask for organiser access and identify the event you manage. HamiltonEvents.ca verifies the event relationship before ticketing is activated, then setup continues in the event's Partner Portal workspace.
