The Performance
Have you ever wondered how Beethoven could write music when he was deaf? In Pastoral Symphony No. 6, Beethoven took inspiration from sounds he could no longer hear but could remember well, such as a shepherd’s pipe and birdsong. Join us to learn about the evolution of Beethoven’s career from the homes of the aristocracy to the public stage, as well as the impact of his deafness on his life, work and temperament. Also at this Talk and Tea, Composer Fellow Leo Purich speaks of the Beethoven Pastoral Symphony influence in the world premiere of Forest Paths Imagined.
