Divine Apathy | 13m | Mike Scorgie | Canada

Divine Apathy follows East Side Ed, an outreach worker in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, as he ventures to an encampment for the unhoused to cook Christmas poutine for its residents. Through a blend of archival footage and the filmmaker’s still photography, the film observes a community often unseen, capturing moments of humour, resilience, and survival alongside the quiet presence of realities of life shaped by addiction. As Ed reflects on his own struggles, a deeper connection is revealed between him and the people he serves.

'Steady,' a lifelong mechanic specializing in vintage Harley-Davidsons, reflects on his craft, his troubled upbringing, and his path to redemption, exploring how an intimate bond with machines has shaped both the man and his work.

Something To Hold Onto | 8m | Taylor Olson | Canada

Filmmaker and actor Taylor Olson, who has lived with an eating disorder since adolescence, turns the camera inward to explore the isolation that defined his early struggle and the community he never had. Through intimate encounters with a peer mentor and mentee in Eating Disorders Nova Scotia’s Pure Mentorship Program, the film examines how lived-experience support can soften shame, reduce stigma, and reshape the path toward recovery - asking whether healing becomes possible when no one has to carry the weight alone.
