About

Noah Derksen is one of Canada’s most distinctive voices, a singer-songwriter whose luminous blend of folk, country, and indie defies easy categorization. Emerging from Winnipeg’s indie scene — an isolated city in the heart of North America — Noah was named a finalist in SiriusXM’s Top of the Country competition and awarded Canadian Folk Music’s Emerging Artist of the Year. An observer of the subtle and the mundane, Noah's genre-defying music will pull you through the portal for just a moment: one where you can feel the music rising above the noise of everyday life. Noah’s fourth album, Mercy on the Skyline (out May 2026 via AWAL), is a soulful and reflective work exploring themes of self-realization, healing, and the quiet cultivation of inner strength. Grounded and down-to-earth, his songs point out the little mercies that emerge even in a world full of heartbreak. Moving between folk, country, and indie, Noah's music is rooted in the small moments of everyday life — riding the bus, packing boxes, falling in love — and the silent mercies that hold us together. Written and recorded in a spirit of collaboration, the album features some of Noah’s musical heroes — Lori McKenna, May Erlewine, and FONTINE — alongside a backbone of Winnipeg’s finest musicians recorded all together, live in a room. "Life is about being in community," Noah says, “and I want my music to be a reflection of that.” Whether performing on festival stages, in intimate venues, or with friends in a living room, his music is about connection: songs that feel like they're written for you.
