Learn how a personal passion for collecting evolved into a remarkable archive of Hamilton’s industrial history, and discover how everyday objects, advertisements, and ephemera reveal the city’s enduring culture of making. The talk includes insights into the exhibition’s development, collecting practices, and the surprising history behind some of the objects on display.
Glen Faulman: (a.k.a. The Hamilton Kid) is an 8th-generation Hamiltonian, a third-generation steelworker, a punk musician, and former owner of This Ain’t Hollywood on James Street North. His mother’s family first came to the area in the 1780s, settling on a farm in the area of Mohawk and Upper Horning. It was Glen’s parents who instilled within him the importance of supporting Canadian made, Hamilton-made, and union made objects and ephemera from this city’s manufacturing past. goods, and these principles have directly inspired his three plus decades of collecting.
