As part of the WAHC Artist-in-Residence program, Creative Food Research Collaboratory members Anahí González and Katie Lawson have spent the summer months conducting research together at the intersection of migrant workers’ rights and food systems.
This program will feature reflections from their residency and invite attendees to collectively intervene in the migrant worker contract between Canada and Mexico by adding text, questioning its language, and sharing stories and reflections around labour.
The evening will continue over tamales provided by Mexican Kitchen, alongside a postcard activity featuring a new special edition produced by designer Laura Rojas, inviting participants to draft messages to the Prime Minister. Registration required. Register below.
About the Artists
The Creative Food Research Collaboratory (CFRC) germinates collaborations at the intersection of art and food studies, exploring how the arts can imagine—and therefore help to achieve—food security, food sovereignty, and food justice in Canada. Our work includes academic research, public events, teaching and workshops, as well as fundraising for community food initiatives. Initiated in 2022, the collective is comprised of Amanda White, Zoë Heyn Jones, Anahí Gonzalez, and Katie Lawson.
