Introductory Astronomy for Kids – Constellations

Join us at the planetarium for a show especially geared toward younger audiences (8-15 years old, particularly 12-15 years old) and their family members. Ever wondered where to find Perseus, the hero who defeated Medusa? Curious about locating your zodiac sign based on your birthday? This show will guide you through the captivating stories behind different constellations visible in the Hamilton night sky. You’ll learn how to recognize them and gain essential star-gazing skills, ensuring you’ll never feel lost when you look up at the night sky again! Additionally, we’ll explore some of the planets and celestial objects visible that night.

Please note that children under 8 can sometimes be frightened when we zoom into planets. The planetarium is not like a TV screen – it’s an immersive environment, and the perspective could be unsettling for younger kids who are not yet able to process the information. We obviously want to create a positive environment for kids’ learning, and you know them best and what they can handle. If individuals are disruptive you may be asked to leave, and re-admission is not possible. All attendees, including infants in arms, require a ticket due to fire and safety capacity codes.
