In Spite of Ourselves: An Evening of John Prine is a Canadian tribute show celebrating the songwriter’s 80th birthday, featuring Johnny Max (2x JUNO nominee), Blair Packham (The Jitters), Bill Craig (The Irish Rovers), and Kirsten Jones . The show includes a full band performing Prine’s humorous, serious, and classic songs.

Blair Packham is one of Canada’s finest songwriters & writes songs of joy, triumph, heartbreak & loss. Leader of the JUNO nominated band The Jitters and had the pleasure of seeing John Prine, up close at 13 at Massey Hall. He has released 3 solo albums along with his previous band’s albums and has had numerous songs appear on TV & films.
Johnny Max is one of those entertaining entertainers & has been the leader of the 2x JUNO nominated Johnny Max Band, for over 30 years. He and the band have toured across Canada & Europe for years. Johnny has penned 8 albums and had a radio show for over 15 years, as well. A long time fan of John Prine, this is Johnny’s project and hopes that everyone will remember how great a songwriter John Prine was.
Kirsten Jones is a JUNO & CCMA nominated, award winning Alt/Country/Roots/ Americana songwriter. With 2 albums on her resume, along the many hundreds of shows that she has performed across Canada, she is an engaging live performer, bringing both introspection & humour to her shows. A newcomer to embracing John Prine’s songs, she will bring the house down.
Bill Craig is originally from Ireland and playing in Canada for over 40 years. An accomplished performer & songwriter, he was a member of Edward Bear and the Rovers, as well as his own long career as part of The Foggy Duo. A longtime proponent of John Prine, Bill has released a number of albums and has toured extensively through The Canada, The US & Europe. His baritone will shake the halls with his versions of John Prine songs.
