The Hamilton Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee's annual summit explores healing through community engagement and culturally informed practice. The 2026 theme is Bringing Healing to the Table: Culture, Care & Belonging.
Chef Rick Powless will discuss the relationship between culture, food and well-being and prepare lunch. Dr. Johanne McCarthy will speak about access to cultural foods and practices in hospital settings, Dr. Liz Akiwenzie will share Indigenous teachings, and CMHA peer support worker Mike Lavelle will join the panel discussion.
The summit is aimed at decision makers and direct-care staff across service sectors. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., with programming beginning at 9:00 a.m. Free parking is listed by the organizer.
