Nika & Madison is a drama about two Indigenous friends who go on the run after an encounter with a police officer. Fearing prejudice and disbelief from the justice system, the childhood friends are forced to flee, forging a strong bond of friendship and sisterhood amidst their flight through the Canadian wilderness. The film explores themes of Indigenous resilience, the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and systemic biases against Indigenous people in the Canadian legal system.
Nika & Madison is, in a word, unsubtle. This is a film that wears its message on its sleeve for all to see. This may sound like a negative, but it is, in fact, a necessary story for both our time and our nation. — Matthew Simpson / That Shelf
Anchored by two remarkable lead performances, Ellyn Jade... and Star Slade, the pair bring emotional intensity to the story of two women bound by loyalty as they navigate danger and injustice, through the strength of their bond. — Heidi Morales / Hye's Musings
