Celebrating Community

Celebrating Community is a free multicultural afternoon at Meridian Co-op, bringing neighbours together for dance, music, art, food and the unveiling of a new community mural. The City-supported creative placemaking project is led by artist Kinga Zak, with the mural designed by Zak and painted by Dallas Hofsten.

The programme runs from noon to 6:00 p.m. DJ FUN Kids Entertainment is scheduled from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.; Ensemble Topaz from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m.; Romani Lud Ludi with Kinga Zak from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m.; Nicole Lamb and Salsa Community from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.; a community drumming circle at 3:00 p.m.; and a swing dance DJ and lesson from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. All-day activities include outdoor painting for kids, chalk art, face painting, games and a bubbles station. BBQ and refreshments are available while supplies last.

Admission is free. The event runs rain or shine on Saturday, August 8 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.
