Bird Study Group: Looking at Our Common Birds with Wonder

The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton

• 170 Dundurn St. S., Hamilton Ontario L8P 4K3, Canada

About

Common birds are often overlooked in favour of the rare or more exciting species. Come and (re)discover why common birds deserve our respect (and awe!) and how they teach us to feel more present and connected to our local environment. Featured rockstar species include the Rock Pigeon, Northern Cardinal, White-breasted Nuthatch, House Sparrow and many others.

Julia Zarankin is a Toronto-based award-winning writer, birder and Canadian Ambassador for ZEISS Sports Optics. Her memoir, Field Notes from an Unintentional Birder , is a Canadian bestseller and her writing has been featured in Audubon, Sierra, Birding Magazine, Canadian Geographic, The Walrus , and The Globe and Mail. When not hanging out with a spotting scope at sewage lagoons in hopes of getting a better handle on shorebirds, Julia lectures to lifelong learners in and around Toronto.

Doors open at 7:00 PM, presentation begins at 7:30 PM.
