In a quiet American town during the 1950s, a young boy named Hogarth Hughes discovers a mysterious metal giant that has fallen from the sky. Curious and fearless, Hogarth befriends the enormous being, teaching it about life, humanity, and the meaning of compassion. As the boy works to keep the giant hidden from a suspicious government agent determined to uncover the truth, the bond between them deepens into an extraordinary friendship. Set against the tensions of the Cold War era, the story explores themes of fear, misunderstanding, and the choices that define identity. As outside forces close in, Hogarth and the Iron Giant are drawn into a struggle that challenges the boundaries between machine and man, weapon and protector, fear and hope.
