Take Back the Night returns to Hamilton for an evening of community gathering, solidarity and action against sexual violence, gender-based violence and street harassment. Hamilton's event has taken place for more than 45 years, and people of all ages and genders are welcome.
From 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the City Hall forecourt will host community tables, an Indigenous market, live music, all-ages activities, giveaways and community-care donations. A rally with speakers and chants runs from 8:00 to 8:15 p.m., followed by the street march from 8:15 to 9:15 p.m. The approved march begins and ends at City Hall, with road closures along the route and a shorter return option via Bay Street.
Accessibility arrangements include ASL interpretation during the rally, an indoor quiet space, an accessible all-genders washroom, water access, a DARTS vehicle for people using mobility devices and an HSR bus for anyone who would prefer to ride during the march. Space on the vehicles is first come, first served.
