He was amongst the most beloved leaders of the RCAF and even the American aircrews of the US bombers he escorted held him in high esteem. They nicknamed him "The Angel" as they believed his escort would guarantee a safe return home.

Wing Commander Lloyd V. Chadburn was one of Canada's most decorated fighter pilots of the Second World War, leading Spitfire wings into action through 1943 and 1944. By the time of his untimely death over the beaches of Normandy, "Chad" (as he was known in the RCAF) had amassed enough aerial victories to be considered an ace, yet his story is largely unknown.

Join Major (Ret’d) Robert Forbes, CD as he explores W/C Chadburn’s life and career, while also spotlighting a lesser-known chapter of the war - RCAF Spitfire operations between the Battle of Britain and D-Day.
