Fleetwood Mac began in 1967 as a British blues band, formed by players coming out of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Peter Green named the group after his rhythm section, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie. Those early years were rooted in blues, not California pop. Everything changed after the band moved to the United States and Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham walked in the door. By the time Rumours arrived, Fleetwood Mac was one of the biggest acts in the world, and "Dreams," "Rhiannon," "Go Your Own Way," and "Landslide" were carrying all the tension, melody, and private drama people still associate with the group.
That last part is what makes a Fleetwood Mac tribute hard to pull off. The records are so cherished partly because the stories behind them were a mess: divorces, breakups, and affairs all happening between band members in real time, all bleeding into the songs. The harmonies and the chemistry between Stevie, Christine, and Lindsey are the whole point.
Fleetwood Mac Mania nails it. Jenn Taylor as Stevie Nicks, Connie Scott as Christine McVie, Jeremy Summers as Lindsey Buckingham, Eddie Crowell as Mick Fleetwood, and Carl Rainbow as John McVie. The catalogue they get to work from spans Christine McVie's elegance, the Buckingham and Nicks songwriting peak, and the way those elements collided on Rumours and Tusk.
Peller Hall is fully accessible, with parking behind Memorial and in nearby lots, and bar service on site. Each show runs two 60-minute sets with an intermission between. Tickets are available exclusively through our box office, online or at 905-304-3232.
