Escarpment Geology Walk 2 @ Chedoke Radial Trail

Chedoke Radial Trail

• 120 Beddoe Dr, Hamilton Ontario L9C 1H3, Canada

About

Following the February Monthly Meeting presentation on Escarpment Geology, Ann will lead us on a 4 km hike to see the rocks she talked about up close. We’ll make our way along part of the Chedoke Radial Trail, moving through the sequence from Queenston Shale to Lockport Dolostone. We’ll view the different rock types that make up the escarpment and its waterfalls, see the erosive effects of water and ice, as well as be able to search for fossils and minerals.

There will be an opportunity at the end to talk and ask further questions over a cup of coffee at the nearby Lancaster Eatery.

The gravel path is relatively flat and will consist of a 2 km medium-paced walk each way (4 km in total). Please note that this is a shared path with cyclists and runners, and may be muddy in some areas.

Free parking available at the Chedoke Golf Club.
