Join us on June 28 at 10:00 AM for a guided descriptive nature walk at Hendrie Valley (Cherry Hill Gate) in the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG), Burlington. This event is organized in collaboration with the CNIB to promote the enjoyment of nature through non-visual sensory description.
The 2 km round-trip walk features a mix of woodland and cattail marsh habitat along Grindstone Creek. Participants may encounter a variety of wildlife, including birds, chipmunks, squirrels, frogs, fish, and a diverse range of native trees, plants, and flowers. The route is mostly flat, with approximately half on a wide boardwalk with guardrails and the remainder on a well-maintained dirt trail. There is one gradual hill at the beginning of the walk (approximately 150 m long), with a handrail along part of the slope.
We will be joined by Tracey Thomas from Vision Loss Rehab, who will provide guidance and insights on safe navigation and sighted guiding techniques.
Registration is required and space is limited. Participants must bring their own guide (Vision Mate, friend, or family member). Both the participant and guide must register using the following link: Cherry Hill Gate Hike with the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club
