A Tribute to Great Big Sea ft. Off the Rock
• Ancaster Memorial Arts Centre, 357 Wilson Street East, Ancaster
About
Category: Live Concerts
Great Big Sea began in St. John’s in the early 1990s and became one of the bands that helped define Canadian music for a full generation. They took the folk music of Newfoundland, kept its character intact, and present it with enough lift and rock energy to reach well beyond the East Coast. The result was a catalogue that thrives at a kitchen party, a festival, and on mainstream radio.
Songs like “Ordinary Day,” “When I’m Up,” and “Mari-Mac” made the group national favourites, and the album Up went quadruple platinum in Canada. Great Big Sea were never just regional ambassadors. They were one of the bands able to make traditional influences sound completely at home in the centre of Canadian popular music.
Anthony Clayton, Thom Danger Speirs, Sean Panting, Steve Peckford, David Skolnick, and Aaron Young make up Off The Rock’s lineup, with guitars, keyboard, fiddle, mandolin, accordion, piano, bass, and layered vocals in the mix.
Peller Hall is an accessible venue with parking available behind Memorial and in nearby lots, and bar service on site. Each show will be presented in two 60-minute sets with a break in between for drinks. Tickets are available only through our box office online or at 905 304 3232.
